on the sims 2, u used to be able to download free hair styles, furniture etc but now it seem you have to buy?

u used to be able to download all free stuff off the sims 2 catalogue that other users had made i just tried and not u need sim points that you have to buy. am i on the wrong website or what or was all the free stuff scrapped…
